A two credit-hour laboratory course

Spring 2004 Semester

Description

P109 is a two credit-hour laboratory course covering the physical principles involved in the description, generation, detection, and reproduction of sound. It is specificaly aimed for the Speech and Hearing students. Each lab will start with a short, 15-30 min lecture explaining the concepts relevant for this lab. The lab experiments concern physics of vibrations and waves, Fourier decomposition of complex wave forms, harmonic spectra, propagation of sound waves in air, standing waves and resonance, sound loudness and decibels, room acoustics, transducers, amplifiers and digital description of sound. More details are given in the course syllabus and description above.
